Smart Moms agency in crisis

You may have heard that there is some drama in travel agent land. Let’s review what happened, how it affects travelers, and why it doesn’t affect my bookings.

Over the past couple of weeks, people in travel circles have been talking about a wave of sudden terminations at a host agency called Smart Moms Travel. Former agents and team leaders posted publicly that they were let go without warning, and some say more than 70 agents lost access to their systems in one sweep. These stories have mostly come directly from staff who left, and fan media summarized their posts while noting that the company had not issued a public statement yet. Because everything we know is based on what the former agents have shared, the details are still one-sided, but the disruption was clearly significant for the people involved.

So what does this mean for travelers? If your agent was one of the people removed, you may find that you suddenly do not know who is handling your reservation, your emails aren’t answered, or you’re unsure where your booking stands. That kind of chaos happens when an agency holds all client records in internal systems and terminates access abruptly. Travelers might need to call the supplier directly to confirm reservation numbers, transfer their booking to a new agent, or get copies of invoices and payment records. None of this is the traveler’s fault, and it can definitely cause stress if you’re caught in the middle.

The important thing to know is that this situation is specific to that one agency. It does not reflect the industry as a whole, and it absolutely does not affect my clients or my bookings.

I work under Outside Agents, which is a long-established host agency with strong governance, clear contracts, and stable infrastructure. When you work with me, your reservations exist with the actual travel supplier, not behind a wall that only the agency controls. Even if a host agency ever disappeared (and mine is extremely stable), your booking would not. Your trip is held by the airline, the cruise line, the resort, or the tour operator, and you, as the traveler of record, always have access.

My job is to make sure you never have to deal with the kinds of problems that happened in this recent situation. I provide all confirmations directly to you, I keep communication transparent, and I use industry-standard systems that don’t vanish if one company changes its leadership. You get security, continuity, and personal service every step of the way.

If you were affected by the Smart Moms situation and need help confirming or transferring a booking, I’m happy to guide you through what steps to take so your vacation stays on track. But if you are already my client, rest easy. Your reservations are secure, your documents are in your hands, and your trip is safe.
