Using our Geneva App
Program Participants have asked for a way to connect with each other before, during and after Craig & Sarah Events. We are using the Geneva app to fulfill the need for peer to peer communication while still protecting everyone’s privacy. Got in early and looking for someone to have dinner with? This is the way.
Directions for use:
Step 1: Download the App
1. Visit your device's app store:
- Apple App Store for iOS.
- Google Play Store for Android.
2. Search for “Geneva” and download the app.
3. Open the app once it’s installed.
Step 2: Create an Account or Log In
1. New Users:
- Tap “Sign Up” on the welcome screen.
- Enter your phone number or email address.
- Follow the prompts to verify your identity (e.g., entering a code sent via text or email).
- Create a username and password, then complete your profile by adding a photo and bio (optional).
2. Existing Users:
- Tap “Log In” and enter your registered phone number or email along with your password.
Step 3: Join Our Home
A Home is the main hub for our community in Geneva.
1. To join our Home:
- Tap “Join a Home” on the main screen.
- Tap the link HERE to activate the invite code.
Step 4: Navigate Rooms
Homes are divided into Rooms, which are spaces for specific discussions or activities:
1. Tap our Home to see its Rooms.
2. Our Rooms can include:
- Chat Rooms: For group messaging and conversations.
- Threaded Rooms: For organized discussions on specific topics. Ours are generally divided by event.
- Audio/Video Rooms:** For live calls and meetings. Chit chat without giving out your real phone number.
- Docs Rooms: For sharing files and resources. Post that song someone asked about!
Step 5: Set Up Notification
Stay updated with your Homes and Rooms by managing notifications:
1. Go to the app’s Settings.
2. Choose “Notifications” to customize alerts for each Home or Room.
- You can turn notifications on or off for specific conversations or adjust sound and vibration preferences.
Step 6: Use Offline Features
Geneva requires an internet connection for most features, such as sending messages or joining calls. However:
- You can view previously downloaded files and chats offline.
- Any messages you send offline will automatically queue and send when you reconnect.
Step 7: Personalize Your Experience
1. Edit Profile: Tap your profile icon to change your photo, bio, or settings.
2. Dark Mode: Toggle between light and dark modes in the Settings menu.
3. Pin Rooms: Long-press a Room to pin it to the top of your Home list for quick access. I would do this with the specific events you are attending.
