Traveling with your instrument

FLYING WITH INSTRUMENTS

Craig & Sarah recommend

  1. Use of a hard case

  2. Early boarding if possible

  3. Bring treats for the flight attendants

  4. Ask nicely, and mention wanting to keep your “expensive instrument” safe!

  5. Understand the federal policy on flying with instruments: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2015/01/05/2014-30836/carriage-of-musical-instruments

For retreats and cruises, either High G or Low G is fine. Bring the instrument you are most comfortable with. You’ll learn better on your favorite instrument than you will on a cheapie. For all our sakes, leave the resonator banjoleles at home.
